When you’ve got the perfect outfit nothing can stop you… except rouge bra straps. So where can you hide your bra straps when you don’t have a strapless bra? Our Fit Stylists share their insider tips to hide bra straps in a snap. Some of these may require a little extra time to work into your routine, but they’re foolproof and always work. So let’s get crafty and find a solution so you can look and feel your best.
Ways to Hide Bra Straps
The best way to never worry about visible bra straps is to go strapless. But until you’ve found your favorite strapless bra there are some tricks you can try below. We’ve explored every way to hide visible bra straps from tucking them in, to sewing cups into strapless dresses. As always, to make sure you’re getting the support you need to avoid back pain or slipping all around is to have a good fitting bra in your top drawer. Here are our favorite methods to find your go-to strap hiding trick.
-
Adjust the Bra
Most bras come with adjustable bra straps so you can tighten or loosen them for a custom fit. As long as you have the right bra size, this should help make sure your bra straps don’t slip or peek out. If you’re wearing an outfit with thin or thick straps that are as wide as your bra straps, there’s an art to making sure they don’t slip out and show. At ThirdLove, we’ve created our signature no-slip bra straps so you never have to worry about that.
-
Sew in Cups
This strap-hiding hack is perfect for anyone who is comfortable with sewing or has a seamstress. If you don’t have a strapless bra, you can take an old bra and sew the cups directly into any strapless or spaghetti strap outfit. All you have to do is remove the straps on your old bra and sew only the cups into the front of the outfit. Be sure to sew the cups into the top hem, along the lining so you won’t see the cups poke out if your outfit isn’t perfectly snug. A seamstress will be able to sew the cups seamlessly into the fabric so you won’t notice it at all.
-
Purchase Invisible Straps
If your favorite bra comes with removable straps, you can either keep them off and convert it to a strapless bra, or you can add invisible/clear straps. Using invisible straps can be extra supportive if the bra you’re using doesn’t have the proper silicone lining to keep from slipping. All of our convertible bras at ThirdLove have this stay in place lining to make the transition between styles easy. Depending on the size of your breasts, clear and invisible straps can help you reduce back pain since they’ll help carry the weight of your boobs.
What Not to Wear With Bra Straps
Nothing ruins a good outfit like a stray bra strap. Here’s what not to wear with bra straps: anything strapless including dresses, halter tops, or too-thin straps like spaghetti strapped outfits. It’s not just about avoiding bra straps altogether, but making sure the strap design matches your outfit. So if you’re wearing a racerback top or something with a t-back, try to choose a wired, wireless, or sports bra that matches that configuration. Some bras are easily convertible so you can manipulate them to fit with any outfit.
Try and plan ahead when you’re wearing something that’s strapless so you can make sure you have either a strapless bra or you have time to implement one of our strap-hiding hacks above. When you’re ready to say goodbye to uncomfortable bras, we’ve designed a better strapless bra that’s designed to make you look and feel great in every outfit.
